Sebastian (born February 3, 1981) is the stage name of French-Serbian electro house DJ and producer Sebastian Akchoté-Boxovic, hailing from Boulogne-Billancourt, France.

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, however, raised in Paris and Belgrade, Sebastian Akchoté’s earliest musical influences stemmed from his older brother’s jazz and experimental music as well as the hip hop of DJ Premier. Whilst still in high school, Akchoté began producing music, making beats, and honing his live performance skills with local rap groups near his home. Before long one of these groups pointed the DJ and producer in the direction of Ed Banger Records, who subsequently signed Sebastian having never seen him in the flesh.

The musician’s debut output was the EP “Smoking Kills” released in 2005, followed by the 7” “H.A.L.” the same year. The releases showcased Sebastian’s brand of glitched-out house that echoes fellow-French act Justice and proved to be the start of what would be the DJ’s prodigious output. The compilation “Ross Ross Ross / Productions & Remixes” arrived in August 2006, after which the producer focused on crafting remixes for the likes of Daft Punk, Cut Copy, Editors, and Kelis. The musician expanded his repertoire in 2007 by scoring the soundtrack to the 2007 film “Steak”, a year later Sebastian also provided the soundtrack to the film “Notre Jour Viendra”.

By September 2008 the majority of Sebastian’s remixes had found their way onto the compilation “Remixes”, which charted at No. 103 in the French Albums Chart. More original material followed with the EPs “Walkman 2” (2007) and “Motor” (2008), and the singles “Embody” and “C.T.F.O.” feat M.I.A. Following much anticipation, Sebastian issued his debut full-length album “Total” in May 2011. Earning positive reviews, the 22-track album charted at No. 63 on the French Album chart and No. 20 in the UK Dance Chart.
