Real Friends

Real Friends (formed in 2010) is American emo and pop-punk band, signed to Fearless Records, from Tinley Park, Illinois, in the U.S.

Despite barely knowing one another before forming the band Real Friends have made huge musical strides in only a very short time. Bassist Kyle Fasel started the band alongside guitarist Dave Knox in 2010. Needing a vocalist and guitarist, the pair enlisted the help of Dan Lambton and Eric Haines respectively, before inviting drummer Brian Blake through Craigslist.

Real Friends’ sound is undeniable, unequivocally emo, pop punk, its members have been weaned on diets of American Football, Brand New, Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday throughout their youths. The band is also noted for their depressive and melancholic lyrics and creating symbolism on issues such as sleep deprivation and weight loss.

In 2011 Real Friends released the EPs “This Is Honesty” and “Cheap Talk and Eager Lies” followed the year after with the EPs “Everyone That Dragged You Here”, “Acoustic Songs” and “Three Songs About The Past Year of My Life”. 2013 brought the band’s big break when they signed with Fearless Records and released the EP “Put Yourself Back Together” with an announcement of a studio album the following year.

Real Friends released their debut studio album “Maybe This Place Is The Same And We’re Just Changing” on July 22, 2014, which debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200. In support of the album, the band played the 2014 Warped Tour and embarked on an extensive North American tour.
