Pepper, are an American alternative rock trio formed in 1996 from Hawaii. They came to be when two singing school friends in Haiwaii, guitarist Kaleo Wassman and bass player Bret Bollinger decided to make a reggae rock style band in the mid 90s.

After struggling to find a drummer for the group, they turned to local Yesod Williams, and the band was complete. The threesome quickly skipped town and headed to San Diego, where they unleashed their signature sound, mixing punk and rock with dub and ska, on audiences when they opened for the famous reggae artists such as Shaggy.

After a few years playing on the mainland, the band returned back to Hawaii, and quickly grew a big fan base on the island, leading them being scooped up by Californian label Volcom Entertainment. Shortly after being signed, the band released their debut album, “Give’n It”. The album cemented the group’s experimental style, as it featured a blend of genres from dancehall and hip-hop to pop-punk, and they were signed onto the nationwide “Vans Warped Tour” in 2001.

Between 2002 and 2004, the band toured around the country, playing alongside a variety of acts such Slightly Stoopid and Snoop Dogg. During this period they also managed to release a further two LP’s with Volcom, “Kona Town” and “In With The Old”, the latter seeing the band reach moderate chart success for the first time.

Pepper finally gained mainstream recognition in 2006, with their fourth studio album “No Shame”, this time released with their new label Law records, which broke into the US Top 100 album chart.

In recent years, Pepper have continued to write and release music under Law, producing a further two albums, the most recent being 2013’s eponymous “Pepper”. The band have continued to tour extensively, alongside acts such as Cypress Hill and Shawyze, as well as completing a headline slot on a recent Warped Tour, more than 10 years after their debut with the circuit.
