Joe Diffie (born December 28, 1958) is an American country music singer-songwriter and guitarist, hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the U.S.

Influenced by his parent’s record collection at a young age, Joe Diffie started singing age three and made his first musical performance in his aunt’s country music band age four. Throughout the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, Diffie had been a member of bands including a gospel quartet and later the bluegrass band, the Special Edition. After Hank Thompson had recorded and released “Love on the Rocks”, a song written by Diffie, the songwriter moved to Nashville, Tennessee, U.S., where he worked at the Gibson guitar plant.

Around this Diffie became a highly sought after demo singer, continued to write songs and collaborated with Holly Dunn on the single “There Goes My Heart Again” in 1989. In 1990 Diffie signed with Epic Records who issued the singer-songwriter’s debut album “A Thousand Winding Roads”. The album spawned two No. 1 country chart singles “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets)” and “Home”, as well as two No. 2 singles “If You Want Me To” and “New Way (To Light Up an Old Flame”.

Diffie’s sophomore album “Regular Joe”, released in 1992 was a similarly ballad-driven record, and cemented the singer as a staple of the country music chart. The singer’s subsequent album however, “Honkie Tonk Attitude” (1993), covered a more expansive musical ground and was noted for its humourous elements. The album proved to be Diffie’s most successful and paved the way for his fourth full-length “Third Rock From the Sun”, which spawned the No. 1 singles “Pickup Man” and “Third Rock From the Sun” in 1994.

The popular singer-songwriter subsequently released the Christmas album “Mr. Christmas” in 1995, along with his fifth studio album “Life’s So Funny”, “Twice Upon a Time” in 1997, and “A Night to Remember” in 1999. Diffie has continued to record and release music into the new millennium and has toured in support of the albums “In Another World” (2001), “Tougher Than Nails” (2004), “Homecoming: The Bluegrass Album” (2010), and “All in the Same Boat” (2013).
